The National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) recently sent a letter to Congress signed by over 300 health advocacy groups in support of protecting the Medicare Part D program. Today, NOF issued the following statement in response to the new Part D rule proposal from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS):
“We applaud the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) request for information in the Part D rule aimed at ensuring that Part D beneficiaries pay less for their medicines,” said Amy Porter, executive director and CEO of the National Osteoporosis Foundation. “Ensuring patient access to medications through the Part D program is one of NOF’s main priorities. Exploring how patients can better directly benefit from discounts and rebates when purchasing their prescriptions is a step in the right direction.”
