Washington, DC (October 25, 2018) – The National Osteoporosis Foundation issued the following statement regarding announced changes the Medicare Part B program:
“Medicare Part B is vital to patients living with and managing chronic illnesses, like osteoporosis. Key to treatment under the program is the ability for doctors and patients to tailor care to the individual. We remain concerned that if HHS fully adopts this policy, the reimbursement allowances and flexibility providers need will be at risk, potentially jeopardizing treatment. Chronic conditions require careful management which cannot be delivered through a one-size-fits-all program developed outside the patient-doctor relationship. HHS must listen to the voices of patients concerned about these changes and act on behalf of their well-being.”
